For delivery before Christmas in 2026, the last recommended ship dates for most ecommerce parcels fall between December 15 and December 23. USPS Ground Advantage and First-Class Mail cut off on Thursday, December 17, Priority Mail on December 18 and Priority Mail Express on December 19. FedEx Ground and Home Delivery deadlines run from December 17 (5-day transit) to December 23 (1-day transit), and FedEx Ground Economy cuts off first, on December 15. UPS has not published a single Ground date and tells shippers to check transit time by ZIP code. Plan your marketing cutoffs a few days ahead of these dates, not on them.
USPS announced its recommended dates on September 22, 2026. These are the dates to ship for expected delivery before December 25 within the contiguous U.S.:
For Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and U.S. territories, First-Class Mail, Priority Mail and Priority Mail Express share the same dates. USPS does not give one Ground Advantage date for those destinations, because service to them carries a 10-day or longer expectation that varies by location. Check the USPS service commitments tool for the exact ZIP code.
International and military dates came out later. As compiled by ShipStation, the main ones are:
If you sell to military families, note that the Ground Advantage date for APO/FPO/DPO addresses is November 4, which is this week.
FedEx published a 2026 peak "Last Day to Ship" chart covering Tuesday, December 15 through Thursday, December 24. Ground and Home Delivery dates depend on how many transit days a package needs from origin to destination:
For FedEx Express services:
FedEx notes that Ground transit within the contiguous U.S. typically takes 1 to 5 business days, and 3 to 7 business days to and from Alaska and Hawaii, depending on ZIP code. The Ground dates also assume a regularly scheduled pickup or a drop-off at a staffed FedEx location. FedEx states the dates are subject to change, so recheck fedex.com/holiday in December.
UPS does not publish one last day to ship for UPS Ground. Its holiday page says the cutoff depends on service, origin, destination and required arrival date, and points shippers to its Calculate Time and Cost tool. Third-party roundups, including ShipStation's, list these UPS air dates for domestic shipments:
The UPS page itself adds several cautions worth building into your plan:
Closures affect when your warehouse can hand packages off, not just when customers receive them. Based on the UPS holiday schedule:
One note on sources: at least one shipping software roundup lists no UPS delivery on Christmas Eve, while UPS's own holiday page says delivery is available for all services that day. We are going with the carrier's page, but confirm with your UPS rep if a December 24 delivery matters to you.
A carrier's last day to ship is the day the package must be in the carrier's hands. Your customer-facing "order by" date needs to come earlier to leave room for picking, packing and any carrier delays. A few practical steps:
If you sell on several channels, set the cutoff in each one. Our integrations page lists the platforms we connect to.
